This 10 day tour has been curated to allow you to explore Sri Lanka’s most scenic destinations at a leisurely pace, giving you enough time to immerse yourself in the essence of the island, and the unending hospitality of its people.

From the western coastline of Negombo you will traverse through a breath-taking diversity of habitats, climates, and get a thorough insight into the history and magic the ‘isle of serendipity’, as you discover the royal enchantment of Kandy, the beauty of the Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage, the beautiful simplicity of the lives of the villagers in Meemure, and the breath-taking vistas on your treks through Knuckles Range, Horton Plains and World’s End.

In addition, a walk through the world famous Ceylon Tea plantations in the colonial hill station of Nuwara Eliya gives you a chance to stand among its rolling hills beautifully landscaped over time to resemble a magical fairy tale backdrop.

You will also be guided on an adventure through some of the most unique hiking trails in the central highlands taking you into the heart of nature’s most pristine protected environments, promising some spectacular holiday photography.

On your way back down from the hills Sri Lanka’s most popular train journey from Nanu Oya to Ella meandering through the misty hills will simply take your breath away, and you will continue to Haputale and the grand sceneries of Lipton’s Seat and the amazing Bambarakanda and Diyaluma waterfalls. Your tour will end in the vibrant cities of Colombo and Negombo where a tour of the Dutch canals and a fishing tour can help you unwind and ready yourself for departure.

DAY 01 - AIR PORT – NEGOMBO

Arrival at Bandaranaike International Airport to a warm welcome from your chauffeur guide who will transfer you to Negombo, just six kilometres away.

Depending on your arrival time, you could rest and recuperate at the hotel or explore the city’s fishing village for its fresh exotic seafood, and the colonial Dutch Fort to observe the bustling seaside town and its dwellers as they go about their busy daily lives. Alternatively, simply lounge at the beach and enjoy some cold beverages and a special gourmet feast of a complimentary mixed seafood platter.

DAY 02 – NEGOMBO – PINNAWALA – KANDY

After breakfast, your chauffeur guide will transfer you to Kandy, the seat of the last King of Sri Lanka, with a stop at the Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage for your chance to get up close with the many orphaned and disabled elephants rehabilitated and cared for at the site. Get there by feeding time early in the morning hours to see baby elephants bottle fed milk, and then bathed in the Mahaweli River.

On arrival in Kandy, take a city tour after lunch and visit the fruit and vegetable markets, gem museums and curio shops, or take a stroll around the picturesque Kandy Lake. Views of the city from the popular Upper Lake Drive are especially nice.

In the late afternoon be entertained by a colourful cultural music and dance performance before visiting the sacred Temple of the Tooth to pay your respects.

Kandy is the seat of the last King of Sri Lanka, Sri Wickrama Rajasinghe, with the Temple of the Tooth being the last Royal Palace Complex, hence Kandy has a special sense of culture and history that is evident in its art and traditional dance.

DAY 03 – KANDY – KNUCKLES

After breakfast, depart for the grand Knuckles Range in the central highlands where you will be checked in at your hotel. From here, you can enjoy for a trek through a pristine nature trail that will take you through the beautiful village of Kumbukgolla and continue on to the mysterious Nitro Caves – named for its use as an unending source of salt peter used for making gunpowder by the kings of ancient Sri Lanka.

This 3-4 hour trek will take you through forests, gardens, villages, streams and traditional paddy fields, ending with a magical view of the entire mountain range, making you feel as if you are at the top of the world.

Arrive back at the hotel in the late afternoon for some well-deserved rest and relaxation.

DAY 04 – KNUCKLES

After an early breakfast at the hotel, get ready for a trek to Meemure and visit the village of Kaikawela. The road comes to an end at Meemure, and the trek to the village gives you ample evidence of the rich history of this area. On the way up glimpse the imposing Lakegala Mountain pushing up into the heavens out of the valley like a giant sentinel guarding this ancient village.

Bask in the genuine warm smiles and hospitality of the farmer villagers of Meemure as visitors. Be enchanted by the golden view of paddy fields, pepper and vegetable cultivations stretching for acres across the village. The natural beauty of this area will drive away all your weariness.

Arrive back at the hotel and spend your afternoon at leisure.

DAY 05 – KNUCKLES – NUWARAELIYA

After breakfast, depart for Nuwara Eliya and visit the Peradeniya Botanical Gardens on route – home to over four thousand species of exotic plant specimens, and view the spice gardens, orchid house, the natural pavilion fig tree, and many more beautiful sections.

From here, visit a traditional tea factory and see the tea pluckers at work and learn how to choose just the right tea leaf. Later on visit the famed Ramboda Falls.

Come late afternoon, take a walk around the town and stroll through the park, or visit the picturesque little Anglican Chapel, the horse racetrack, and the beautiful old colonial style golf club for some light refreshment.

Lake Gregory, in the heart of the town, is a great place for a stroll and promises some beautiful picture settings, in addition to the many public leisure activities offered along its banks such as boat rides etc.

DAY 06 – NUWARAELIYA – HORTON PLAINS

Early departure to Horton Plains, and World’s End for an unforgettable trek through a unique biodiversity hotspot with rolling grassy plains and cloud forest 2130 metres high, home to a wide variety of endemic flora and fauna including Leopards and the elusive Slender Loris.

Horton Plains lies in the midst of Sri Lanka’s Central Highlands, an area designated as a World Heritage Site.

Spend you afternoon at rest back at the hotel.

DAY 07 – NUWARAELIYA – ELLA (BY TRAIN)

After breakfast at the hotel, your chauffeur will drive you to the Nanu Oya Train Station to begin a magical train journey through the winding misty hills to Ella Station, where he will await you for transfer to your hotel.

After lunch, stroll through Ella town, or choose between hiking up Little Adam’s Peak, or up the famous Ella Rock. Other popular sites of interest in Ella are the Nine Arches bridge, and the beautiful Ravana Falls with its mysterious cave.

DAY 08 – ELLA - HAPUTALE

After breakfast, begin your journey to Haputale – an area of immense natural beauty with both the Bambarakanda and Diyaluma waterfalls (1st and 2nd highest in Sri Lanka) within easy reach, and the famous Lipton’s Seat the favoured perch of Sir Thomas Lipton to relax and gaze upon his endless sea of tea plantations.

Admire the history, the serene architecture and skilfully maintained gardens of the Adisham Bungalow, a beautiful Tudor style manor hall and Benedictine Monastery famous for their home made preserves and jams.

 Overnight Stay in Melheim Haputale

DAY 09 – HAPUTALE – COLOMBO

Depart after breakfast, for Colombo city and its vibrant entertainment, shopping, and dining culture. The city has many places of interest such as the National Museum where you can view the royal throne and crown jewels of Sri Lanka’s last monarch, among other valuable artefacts from those glorious times. The city is filled with old colonial buildings now converted into stylish and trendy public entertainment areas that you can explore and experience to your hearts content.

 Overnight Stay in The Ocean /  Faiw View / Fair Way  Colombo.

DAY 10 – NEGOMBO – AIR PORT

After breakfast, your chauffeur guide will drive you to the Airport in time for your connecting flight, with what we hope will be plenty of happy memories. See you again soon!

Please note we require 30% of the payment on confirmation with the balance settled 15 days prior to arrival, or full payment can be settled on confirmation.

Any cancellation should be notified in writing, 10 days prior to the arrival date, 40% would be charged , for cancellations made within 7 days , and  for ‘No Shows 100 % would be charge.
