Sri Lanka Maldives Honeymoon Special

This tour combines the best of Sri Lanka’s sights and sounds with five days of total solitude and privacy at an island resort in the Maldives. Beginning in Habarana you will have easy access to the amazing sights and ancient wonders of the cultural triangle of Sigiriya, Polonnaruwa and Dambulla that will leave you in no doubt about the glory of Sri Lanka’s ancient past.

From here, you will be whisked off up into the hills via Kandy with a chance to see the famed Temple of the Tooth, and then move on to ‘Little England’ or Nuwara Eliya where the cold climate makes the atmosphere ripe for romance.

After exploring the city and its environs, you will depart Nuwara Eliya for the island’s adventure sports capital of Kithulgala en route to the coastal town of Negombo where you may rest and recuperate or venture out to experience the life and attractions in the busy little town before catching your flight to the Maldives.

DAY 01 - AIRPORT – HABARANA

Arrival at Bandaranaike International Airport to a warm welcome from your chauffeur guide who will transfer you to your first stop in Habarana. Spend your first day at leisure and recuperate from your long flight by the pool or with a special Ayurveda spa treatment before your journey begins.

DAY 02 – HABARANA - SIGIRIYA – POLONNARUWA

After breakfast, travel to the Sigiriya Rock Fortress – an imposing ancient royal citadel in the jungle and climb up to walk among the ruins of the palace of King Kassapa while enjoying the amazing vistas of the surrounding wilderness.

Afterwards, visit the 5^th Century B.C. Polonnaruwa palace complex for a leisurely stroll among the magical ruins for a glimpse of the grandeur of the kings of old.

Head back to the hotel for some much needed rest and relaxation by the pool.

DAY 03 – HABARANA – DAMBULLA - KANDY

After breakfast, set out for the hill capital Kandy, and stop by in Dambulla for a visit to a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the Dambulla Golden Temple, with its beautifully preserved examples of Buddhist art and sculpture within its extensive gold cave complex.

In transit to Kandy, stop at Matale for a leisurely walk through one of Sri Lanka’s famous spice gardens, home to the worlds’ highest quality cinnamon, cloves, cardamoms, pepper and other exotic spices.

On arrival in Kandy check in and spend the rest of your day at rest and relaxation enjoying the nature and atmosphere in complete privacy and seclusion.

DAY 04 – KANDY – PINNAWALA

After breakfast, visit the Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage and view orphaned and disabled elephants being cared for and rehabilitated. Enjoy lunch while watching the elephants bathe in the Mahaweli River.

In the late afternoon take a city tour of Kandy – the seat of the last King of Sri Lanka, and visit the Temple of the Tooth – the repository of the sacred tooth relic of the Lord Buddha. Due to this, Kandy has a special sense of culture and history and an old world charm of its own and hence is a great place for romantic walks along its lake, and many curio and gift shops to peruse at your own pace.

DAY 05 – KANDY – NUWARAELIYA

After breakfast, head out to the colonial hill station of Nuwara Eliya – the heartland of Ceylon Tea, and called Little England due to its cool climes and misty mountains popular among expats in colonial times. En-route visit a traditional tea factory and visit the tea pluckers at work and learn how to choose just the right tea leaf.

After lunch, take a walk around the town and stroll through the park, or visit the picturesque little Anglican Chapel, the horse racetrack, and the beautiful old colonial style golf club for some light refreshment.

Lake Gregory, in the heart of the town, is a great place for a stroll and promises some beautiful picture settings in addition to the many public leisure activities offered along its banks such as boat rides etc.

DAY 06 – NUWARAELIYA – KITHULGALA – NEGOMBO

After breakfast, your chauffeur guide will transfer you to Negombo with a stop in Kithulgala

Sri Lanka’s adventure travel hub. Kithulgala’s other claim to fame is as the location for David Lean’s Academy Award winning 1957 film ‘Bridge on the River Kwai’, where the bridge still stands and is quite a popular tourist attraction. Speak to your chauffeur guide for an excursion to the site as an additional option.

Arrive in Negombo and spend you afternoon at leisure at your hotel in preparation for the next leg of your amazing honeymoon journey.

DAY 07 – NEGOMBO – MALDIVES

After breakfast, you will be transferred by your chauffeur guide to the airport in time for your flight to the Maldives.

On arrival in Male, you will be transferred to your hotel via speedboat to begin your five days of extreme relaxation, privacy and comfort at your resort.
